Yusufu Yunusa Collection

Description

The Yusufu Yunusa Collection contains audio recordings and/or transcripts of interviews of individuals (mostly male elders) in Kano in 1975. These interviews were part of the Economic History Project initiated by Jan Hogendorn and Paul Lovejoy. Yunusa's interviews provide a wealth of primary source information for African history researchers as most of the interviews deal primarily with slavery. All of the interviews were conducted in Hausa.

Please note that the quality of the audio recordings may be poor.

The translated transcriptions of the audio recordings, where they are provided, were done by Ibrahim & Saude Hamza.

The notes for the oral interviews were also transcribed by Ibrahim & Saude Hamza.
